Bridal Veils Falls

"This picture shows a side view of Nevada Falls. As the traveler ascends the 'Zigzags' leading to the top of Nevada Falls, he has every opportunity for seeing the magnificent effects in this falling water. The coruscations of light are resplendent as the sun's rays are reflected from this billowy mass of aerated water, and the rockets, the white ostrich plumes, and other forms, so often referred to, are seen in all their beautiful variety - surrounded by diamond spray and set in living green. The path is rocky and the climb is a steep one, but these effects, and the grandeur which awaits the traveler when the top of the Fall is reached, amply repay him for his perseverance. - J.M. Hutchings, Author of 'In the heart of the Sierras.'" Dated 1897

Mirror Lake at Yosemite Valley

"This gem of mirrors is known as the 'Toilet Glass of Yosemite.' There is no spot on earth known to man where mountains 4,200 feet high are all perfectly reflected upon one small lakelet. Here, moreover, the sun can be seen to rise many times on a single morning. Looking down into Mirror Lake, we behold the mountain heights, the curve of the great dome, the trees, the shifting shadows, all doubled at our feet. The mountain height draw near each other in this wedding of land with water, and as they incline their stately heads, seem to whisper: 'Out of perfection of beauty God hath shined'" Dated 1899
